Valentine's Day Fun

We've had fun baking and crafting at our house this week.  My husband and I have decided that after 10 years of marriage, Valentine's Day really doesn't mean much to us, because our anniversaries are a far bigger deal.  We'll have a nice dinner at home, like we always do, and then have a fun fondue dessert, which has become a Valentine's Day tradition at our house.

I did want to do some special things with the kids this week so that they could have cookies to pass out in their classrooms at AWANA on Wednesday and Bible study on Thursday morning.  My son has a peanut allergy, so baking cookies myself is always a good way to make sure that a safe snack is available for him.

And I thought it would be a good excuse to do some crafts.  Have I mentioned that I stink at doing crafts with my kids?  I hate mess and I hate chaos.  I'm also not at all crafty or creative.

So this week, I forced myself to do two messy things.  I baked and decorated cookies with my four year old and I let my kids paint.

I must have lost my mind.  Oh well.  I survived the painting with only one cup of pink paint dumped on my hardwood floors.  Here are the pictures of our Valentine fun:

Andrew is checking out the paint while Isabelle is hard at work stamping hearts.

She's in the zone.

Loving it!  But he didn't love getting his hands dirty.  He would get mad and insist that I wipe them off repeatedly.

He thinks the world of his big sister.

Eventually, the toddler got bored and it was just Isabelle working hard on her painting.

Decorating cookies with Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) on the counter to keep her company.

I don't know when this little lady grew up, but she has become such a big girl now.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
