The Interview
As part of the Unwired Mom Challenge, I had to interview my kids. My kids are 4, 2, and 1, so I settled with interviewing only Isabelle, my 4 year old.
What does Mommy love to do?
Kiss me and hug me too, and say "I love you, Isabelle."
What makes Mommy happy?
Eating with me and when I say "I love you."
What makes Mommy sad?
Missing me.
What makes Mommy angry?
When I disobey.
What do you wish Mommy would do more of?
Play with me.
Is there anything else you'd like to share with Mommy?
My ponies. And indeed, she has shared her ponies with me recently. As I write this, I just spent a half hour on the floor of her bedroom, playing ponies with her.
More than anything, this interview shows how much children truly believe that the entire world revolves around them. She even believes that all of my moods are dependent upon her behavior. That's a little startling for me, and it makes me want to work on my patience even more. I want her to know that even when she disobeys, I love her.
I have to share this photo again from our first day of homeschool. I just can't get enough of it.
Lessons Learned from Unwired
As I talked about last week, I saw many areas where I felt warned by this book. There are roads I simply don't want to go down. I felt like reading this book put this issue on my radar and helped me put boundaries in place so that the internet can be used as the great tool that it is.In the same way that reading Made to Crave showed me that I do snack more when I'm stressed, I saw that when I'm exhausted and stressed, I do desire to escape by browsing Pinterest, my blog feed, or my Facebook feed. All of these things are fine when they're kept in their place, but they shouldn't be my coping mechanisms. God is to be my only source of peace and rest. Turning to anything else is like drinking sand instead of water; I'll only leave empty and more parched than before.
Where do you find yourself reaching out for sand instead of the living water?
This blessed me. Love your pictures and your challenge! way to go!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an excellent challenge! I love the idea of interviewing your children. I have one in particular who can be brutally honest, but it's good to be convicted about things we mamas need to change. :) I'm visiting from the Mama Moments Monday link-up.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to "interview" your children and what sweet responses Isabelle gave. Kids are the best. :)
