Two years ago, a couple invited us over for dinner and possibly swimming.
I'm embarrassed to say that it took me over an hour to locate all of our swim gear.
Never again.
After that, I created a swim bag with all of our swim gear so that we could always be ready for summer fun. It has totally paid off in terms of time saved and my sanity. Now that I've added a third child into the mix, being organized has become even more vital to my life.
How it works:
Find a bag. Any bag will do, but for whatever reason, I love this bag for our swim gear. I can spot it anywhere.
Gather up your swim gear. You'll want the kids' favorite swim suits, swim shoes/spare flip flops, sunscreen, swim diapers (cloth or 'sposies), and maybe even extra undies for any potty trained kids. My daughter hates riding him from the pool in a wet swim suit, so I usually take her suit off, put panties on her, and let her go home in her cover up, since it's made like a sundress.
Now you're ready to go. I actually put our small swim bag inside of our larger beach bag. The beach bag contains towels and even floaties if they're dry.
As soon as I wash the swim gear, it all goes right back into the bag.
Invited to swim? No problem. Packing for a quick weekend trip? It only takes a minute now to add the swim gear. And if we want to go to the splash pad that just opened up recently in our town, we're ready to go.
And the best part? Spontaneity is no longer stifled by my lack of organization. That definitely makes my kids pretty happy.

Good idea!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea! I could keep sunscreen and bug spray in my bag too so I wouldn't forget it quite so often.
ReplyDeleteI would love for you to link up this post at the Tuesday Baby link up this week!

Great idea!! Last year we got a pool, so now by our side entryway door we have a dresser (plastic one meant for garages) to keep all our swimgear. It makes it easy to grab everything and go when we need to. :-) Love summer!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I'm always caught off guard when the seasons change with finding our outdoor gear.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up at The Tuesday Baby Link Up!
We've been doing this too and it does work! I also have a bag for camping (now no digging for winter hats in July when we go up in the mountains), a winter bag for snow fun, and a nature/hiking/picnic bag. I would never get out the door if I didn't have it all collected and (pretty much) ready to go. I also keep snacks on hand in every bag because I like quiet happy kids--not emergency fast food trips ;)
ReplyDeleteI love this. It's such a great idea, I'm going to have to start doing this. I repinned your pin from the Pin It Proudly Link Party. Thanks for stopping by. I can't wait to see what you link up this week
